Jim Schafer is an architectural photographer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Over the past 21 years as a commercial photographer, Jim has photographed architectural, corporate/ industrial, annual report, and aerial assignments in 28 states, Canada, and Mexico.

His work has been published in Architectural Record, Architecture, Design/ Build, Pittsburgh Magazine, New Shelter, Scientific American, Field and Stream, Forbes, Woman's Day, and Photo District News. He has had two books published; The Allegheny River (Penn State Press) and Lehigh Reflections (Harmony House Publishing), and his aerial photographs appear in the book Over America, 30 Photographers View America From Above (Weldon Owen).

Jim's work as an architectural photographer has inspired an interest in buildings of all types, and has influenced the style and subject matter of his personal photographic work, which has been exhibited in solo and group shows at Pittsburgh Filmmakers New Gallery, The Three Rivers Arts Festival, Pittsburgh Gallery of Photographic Art, Three Rivers Rowing Association, Photo Forum, The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Gallery, The Andy Warhol Museum, and Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
